[vsc-section-title size=”small” title=”Sharon Walchak”][/vsc-section-title]

Sharon is a Public Health Nurse (PHN) in the Family & Children’s Services Nursing Unit. Her role in the RFA unit is to provide training and support to resource parents. She coordinates the trainings that give care providers the skills they need to care for babies and young children who have been exposed to alcohol and other substances. She also runs monthly support groups for English and Spanish speaking resource parents. When resource parents graduate from her training and accept the first child in their home, Sharon conducts a home visit to assess progress and to provide additional education and support. Before becoming a registered nurse, she taught kindergarten in the East Bay. She loves being able to meld her teaching skills with her passion for health promotion. Outside of work, Sharon is raising two young children and heads to the mountains to ski every chance she gets.
